Types of Dental Coverage

PPO Plans
The most popular type. You can visit any dentist, but you'll save more by staying in-network. Great flexibility with predictable costs.
HMO / DHMO Plans
Lower monthly premiums, but you must use dentists within the plan's network. Best for people who want to keep costs down and don't mind choosing from a list.
Indemnity Plans
The most flexible option — see any dentist you want, anywhere. The plan pays a set percentage of the bill. Usually higher premiums, but maximum freedom.
Discount Plans
Not technically insurance — these are membership programs that give you reduced rates at participating dentists. No waiting periods, no annual maximums.
